The Village Forestry Department will be removing dead and diseased Ash trees throughout the Village over the next few months.
The majority of the Ash Trees within the Village have been infested by the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and if not already dead will be shortly. This includes trees that have been previously treated because if not treated every year they will still get infested. The Village is no longer investing money in treatment for trees as it is very costly to maintain that program, instead funds are being allocated for additional new tree replacements. Trees to be removed will be designated with a pink mark before removal. Once removed the stump will remain for some time until stumping operations come behind and clean up. Eventually the entire tree and stump will be removed and new topsoil and grass will be replaced. The locations where trees are removed will be added to a list for replacement trees, but it may take a couple of years before a replacement tree is planted. Thank you for your patience.
