Live in Grafton? Work in Grafton? We have a membership options that fit your life. At the Grafton Fire Department, we understand that our members have different daily schedules that affect their ability to respond to calls.
On-call membership does not require any prior fire or EMS experience.
If you are interested in joining, but not sure how the department will fit into your life, come talk to us or fill out the interest form. We would be happy to meet with you and answer all of your questions!
Night / Weekend Paid-On-Call Staff - Accepting Applications (multiple positions available)
We are always welcoming new Paid-On-Call Firefighter/EMT’s that will add to the excellence of our organization,. Could our next member be you?
No Fire/EMS experience is required. Minimum requirements include:
- High School Graduate or GED
- Unrestricted Wisconsin Driver’s License
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation.
New members will attend an initial certification class (Firefighter 1 or EMT) two-three nights a week for one semester. Certification classes begin in late-August and conclude in mid-December for the Fall Semester. Spring semester classes begin in mid-January and conclude in mid-May. All training costs are covered by the department. The Department conducts regular training on Thursday evenings.

Primary Duties
- Respond to fire and ems emergencies
- Attend training sessions
- May elect to be part of an ad hoc committee that interests the member
Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic Staff -

The position schedule is a 24/48 with a 56 hour work week. There is a 12 month probationary period. A Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) is required within the probationary period. Benefits include Paid-Time-Off (PTO), extensive Health/Dental Insurance, participation in Wisconsin Retirement System, clothing costs, and other benefits.
Weekday Paid-On-Call Staff - Accepting Applications (multiple positions available)
Members in this group work in the Grafton community during the daytime hours and are able to leave work to respond to emergency calls during the day. These members respond to incidents requiring additional resources beyond what the Daytime Full-Time and Part-Time staff provide.

Weekday Part Time Staff - Currently Not Accepting Applications. Check out our other employment opportunities!
These members staff the firehouse on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. They not only respond to emergencies during the weekdays but also handle many of the day-to-day administrative tasks that keep the department running smoothly.
Primary Duties
- Primary responder during the weekday hours
- Perform apparatus and equipment checks
- Clean station and equipment
- May be assigned to an ad hoc committee
