Department Staffing & Response

The Grafton Fire Department is staffed by a full-time Chief, a full-time Assistant Chief and approximately 60 dedicated (full-time, part-time and paid-on-call) individuals that respond to fire, rescue and EMS calls in the Village and Town of Grafton 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We operate out of a single station and are dispatched by the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center.

Additional Staffing Information

From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday, the station is staffed by two full-time Firefighter/Paramedics and two part-time Firefighter / Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) or Paramedics. If additional help is needed or additional calls come in, members of the Paid-on-Call staff respond. Weeknights from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. (Mon-Fri), as well as Saturdays and Sundays (6 a.m.-6 a.m.) are handled by our full-time and Paid-on-Call staff.

Department Training

All active members are certified Firefighters, EMTs or both! Following initial certification, all members attend regular training sessions to keep their skills up-to-date. Some members choose to receive advanced certifications and/or complete additional training in swift water rescue, rope rescue, hazardous materials, and other specialties.
