The Grafton Fire Department is staffed by one full-time Chief, a full-time Assistant Chief and approximately 60 dedicated (full-time, part-time and paid-on-call) individuals that respond to fire, rescue and EMS calls in the Village and Town of Grafton 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are dispatched by the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center to over 2000 calls for service per year.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m, Monday through Friday, the station is staffed by one full-time Firefighter/Paramedic and three part-time Firefighter / Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) or Paramedics. When additional help is needed or additional calls come in, members of the Paid-on-Call staff are paged out. Calls on Saturdays and Sundays are handled by our full-time and Paid-on-Call staff.
All active members are certified Firefighters, EMTs or both! Following initial certification, all members attend regular training sessions to keep their skills up-to-date. Some members choose to receive advanced certifications and/or complete additional training in swift water rescue, rope rescue, hazardous materials, and other specialties.
