Responsibilities


The Planning and Zoning Division has many responsibilities, including:

  • Providing staff assistance to various boards, commissions, and the public for development
  • Assessing the future consequences of present and future land use patterns
  • Engaging in a variety of economic development initiatives throughout the Village
  • Reviewing all development proposals
  • Coordinating with other Village Departments on development issues

​Village of Grafton Zoning Ordinance Update Project

The Village is starting an internal process to completely update the Zoning Ordinance from top to bottom. The purposes of the project are to modernize zoning regulations, streamline zoning processes, encourage development and reinvestment, and implement the Village's Comprehensive Plan. The process to complete the Zoning Ordinance and Map, led by the Community Development Department and guided by the Plan Commission, is anticipated to extend through 2020. Public input is encouraged throughout the project so that the Zoning Ordinance reflects community wishes. Please review the content on this page for the Zoning Ordinance updates and information.
