Field Operations Division
This division consists of four Platoon Sergeants and twelve Patrol Officers who protect and serve the community by using police patrols, proactive crime prevention measures, traffic enforcement, and in-depth crime investigations.
Also included in this division are the Grafton Police Department Crossing Guards who provide assistance to children on school days to ensure safe crossing at busy intersections.

Emmett Grissom
Assistant Chief of PolicePhone: (262) 375-5320Emmett Grissom started his career with the Grafton Police Department in January 1989 as a Cadet Officer. In September 1991, Assistant Chief Grissom was promoted to Police Officer. During Assistant Chief Grissom’s time as a Police Officer he served as an Accident Reconstructionist, Crime Scene Investigator, and Field Training Officer and was a member of the DEA’s Clandestine Lab Enforcement Team. In January 2006 Assistant Chief Grissom was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned as a shift supervisor for the late shift. As a Sergeant, Assistant Chief Grissom attended the Northwestern University School for Supervision of Police Personnel and the First Line Supervisor Training for Criminal Justice Professionals from UW-Platteville. In February 2008 Assistant Chief Grissom was promoted to his current position of Captain of Support Services. Assistant Chief Grissom is a graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Training. In September, 2019 Assistant Chief Grissom was promoted to Acting Police Chief and served honorably in this role until September 2020. In February 2021, he was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police.
