We will sample some of the newest technology programs. Each class will explore a different concept: Mi- croscopy using digital microscopes and magnifying lenses, Paleontology, Magnetism using Metal detectors, Levers using catapults, Newton laws of motion, Pulleys, Gears, Bridge making, Tessellations, Fibonacci sequence, Air pres- sure, etc. This class is guaranteed to be 100% Fun! Zaun Pavilion, Lime Kiln Park Days: Monday - Thursday MOTOR MADNESS-LEGO MINDSTORM Students will work together in small groups to design, con- struct and program their own intelligent robot (via PC) to meet a variety of challenges and objectives. LEGO Mind- storm kits will allow you to explore: applying motors, light sensors, touch, sound and ultrasonic sensors and working with wheeled and tracked robots. Objectives are selected to challenge the students at a rate that is appropriate for their skill levels. This class is for the student who likes to be chal- lenged in a fun and friendly environment. Zaun Pavilion, Lime Kiln Park Days: Monday - Thursday SESSION APRIL 2 - 5 TIME FEE / NR FEE Ages 7 - 12 12:15 - 1:30 p.m. $72 LEGO ENGINEERING This class focuses on teaching the fundamentals of simple machines. Using LEGO Technic sets, students build a new model each week. They will have an opportunity to build a drawbridge, catapults, motorized cars, amusement park rides, and more! Students will have fun as they apply what they learn, including simple machines, levers, wheels/axels, gears, ratchet/drive trains, and motorized systems. Location: Robert P. Zaun Pavilion, Lime Kiln Park Days: Monday - Thursday SESSION APRIL 2 - 5 TIME FEE / NR FEE Ages 7 - 12 1:45 - 3:00 p.m. $72 STOP MOTION ANIMATION WITH LEGOS Students work in small groups to create and develop an adventure movie using props, minifigures and 10,000+ Lego pieces. Each team will take stop action photos for ed- iting and creating action for film. There will be music pro- vided to attach to the film and kids can create effects and animations. The class provides an opportunity to explore the fun of making a movie from storyboarding to video tech- niques to post-production, including adding sound effects, music and dialogue. Students should bring a flash drive and headphones to class. Location: Robert P. Use blocks of code to explore the gaming world. They will create their own interactive stories, animated adventures, creative comics, and games. Participants will learn drag- and-drop programming with Scratch. They will take home a copy of their own game at the end of class. It could be the start of something BIG! We will also use programmable robots to better understand different coding techniques. Students should bring a flash drive and headphones to class. Location: Robert P.
