2017 Construction Update (May 24, 2017)

Lumberyard Plaza - This Park project is in the old 11th Avenue right-of-way at the SW corner of Beech Street and Wisconsin Avenue.

The project consists of a retaining wall separating the public plaza from the private development, a “river” water feature, permeable concrete pavers, 2 fire pits, seating areas, landscaping, irrigation, and grading.  This project will be completed soon.


TownePlace Suites Hotel Public Utility Installation – Water main and sanitary main extensions will be the first work completed for the new hotel east of the freeway.  This work started on April 17th and is mostly complete.  Work for the hotel will begin soon.


Audubon Lift Station – The current Audubon Lift station is along the east side of Audubon Avenue near W. Cedar Street.  It is going to be replaced with a new lift station at the SW corner of Wildwood Park off of 1st Avenue.  The project was awarded to Advanced Construction out of Green Bay, and they are anticipating a start date near the beginning to middle of June.


Sidewalk Project – This year’s sidewalk replacement program covers the area from Beech Street to Maple Street and 1st Avenue to Highland Drive/5th Avenue.  The contractor is Green Hills Contracting out of Menomonee Falls.  The replacement areas have been marked, and sidewalk will be removed and replaced or ground down to eliminate unsafe trip hazards.  Concrete sawing has been completed, and removal and replacement is approximately half completed.


2017 Street Improvement Projects: The contract for this year’s Street Improvement Project was awarded to Advanced Construction out of Green Bay.  Work started on Monday April 17th with the sanitary sewer main on Power Street.


6th Avenue (Spring Street to Elm Street) – New water main and sanitary sewer pipes will be installed along both blocks.  The southern block from Spring Street to North Street will be narrowed by 1.5’ on either side, with all new curb and gutter, base coarse and pavement.  The northern block from North Street to Elm Street will have portions of curb and gutter replaced as needed, new base coarse and pavement.


7th Avenue (North Street to Elm Street) – New water main and sanitary sewer pipes will be installed the entire block, as well as some portions of new storm sewer.  The block will be narrowed by 3’ on either side, with all new curb and gutter, base coarse and pavement.


10th Avenue (Hickory Street to Power Street) – New water main and sanitary sewer pipes will be installed the entire block.  The street will be narrowed by 6’ on the west side including new curb and gutter, base coarse and pavement.  Curb and gutter will be replaced on the east side of the street as needed.  Crews are currently working on the utility installations on this block and anticipate being completed within a few days, weather pending.  Roadway work will follow closely behind.


Elm Street (5th Avenue to 7th Avenue) – A new water main pipe will be installed along both blocks.  Curb and gutter will be replaced as needed, and new base coarse and pavement installed.  Utility work on this street is scheduled to start next week.


Power Street (5th Avenue to 7th Avenue) – New water main, sanitary sewer , and storm sewers are complete.  Curb and gutter will be replaced as needed, and new base coarse and pavement installed.  Roadway work will is scheduled to start right after Memorial Day.


Hickory Street (8th Avenue to 9th Avenue) – Curb and gutter will be replaced as needed.  The old pavement will be removed and replaced with new.
